The Farmster Festival celebrated and raised operating dollars for a nonprofit endeavor to create a community farm, engage children in the growing of low-cost, healthful produce and promote the expansion of small scale, farm-to-plate agriculture. Saturday (7/23/16) featured a musical feast beneath the redwoods of SOMO Village, off Petaluma Hill Road not far from Sonoma State University.

SoCo Nexus, the Rohnert Park business incubator, plans early next year to offer a four-month education program for entrepreneurs. Applications for the SoCo Nexus Accelerator program will be accepted starting in September. The program, which will cost about $1,200, is slated to begin in February.

It’s just a few hours before show time for a Michael Franti concert at the Sonoma Mountain Village Event Center in Rohnert Park. An impromptu yoga class has assembled just outside the gate when a tall, African-American man joins the group in the plaza in front of the venue.
