What is SOMO Village?

SOMO Village is an award-winning community that brings people closer
to nature and to each other, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being.

Nestled in the foothills of Sonoma Mountain, SOMO Village was envisioned as a community rooted in sustainable living. Guided by the belief that health, balance, personal connections, and a close relationship with nature are essential to happiness, fulfillment, and longevity, SOMO Village seamlessly blends the convenience of city living with the serene beauty of Sonoma County. This is more than just a place to live—it’s a vibrant community where people come together to work, learn, play, and celebrate life’s beauty.

Discover the heart and soul of SOMO Village through the vision of its founder and CEO, Brad Baker, along with dedicated community partners and supporters. Their commitment has shaped SOMO Village’s mission of sustainability, farming, and fostering a deep sense of connection among its residents. At SOMO Village, we embrace and celebrate the values of nature, passion, creativity, and community, creating a unique environment where life thrives in harmony with the land and with one another.

History & Vision

When our team first saw the land where SOMO Village would eventually be built, it had a profound impact on us. We imagined how we could transform a former technology plant into a lively, sustainable, close-knit community filled with art, gardens, locally-grown food, and gathering places surrounded by the region’s natural beauty.

As a family business that had been helping shape Sonoma County for decades, we were inspired to explore all the possibilities this place had to offer. We asked ourselves what it would look like to design a community with happy, healthy, sustainable living as our guide.

More than a decade later, SOMO Village became a home to people and businesses connected by shared values of sustainability, community, and creativity.

This place has become more than a project to us. Our team has embraced the SOMO Village values and lifestyle in the way we work and live.

Our four core values

When we set out to build SOMO Village, we did so on the foundation
of four core values that support our vision for the future.

Community

We understand the value of community, and we passionately support its growth, both within SOMO Village and in Sonoma County at large.

Health and wellness

We strive to make healthy living easier and more accessible through thoughtfully-designed spaces and wellness-focused amenities.

Sustainability

We believe in doing what’s good for people and good for the planet, operating ethically and sustainably, including being fully solar-powered, as part of the One Planet Community initiative.

Art and culture

We find inspiration in nature, art, and local culture and proactively infuse these elements into our spaces, our programming, and our community.

Early in our journey, we made sustainability a cornerstone of SOMO Village’s identity. We joined One Planet Living, an international program with the vision of a world where we can live happily within the Earth’s resources, as North America’s first One Planet Community.
