This means an emphasis on all aspects of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. We want to make it easy for our community to do the ‘right thing’ in all aspects of life. We also strive to inspire, engage, and unleash our community members’ power to help us create community resilience allowing us to grow and thrive for future generations.

so it can meet the needs of its residents both current and future, and building community resilience may be an essential element in that quest.

One Planet Living®

In 2007, SOMO Village became North America’s first One Planet Community. One Planet Living is an international program with the vision of a world where we can live happily within the Earth’s resources. It provides ten principle framework that covers all aspects of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. We’ve deeply investigated our own organization with an eye for long-term sustainability and created an Action Plan for each principle which is monitored and reviewed annually for continuous improvement and evolution.
